Dover High School Family Information Update

     The 48th Annual Dover High School Band Show will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 6:00 pm.  Please join us for this annual musical spectacular.  We thank the Dover Parent Music Club for all their work in putting on the show.

Families of Seniors, Please Read the Information Below

     Seniors are asked to please look carefully at the information below from the School Counseling Department and the Yearbook Staff.

Valuable Information for Seniors and Parents/Guardians

     Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents/guardians will be on October 17 at 6:30 in the Frederick C. Walker Auditorium.  A financial aid representative will review the ins and outs of the financial aid process.  This event is for seniors and their parents/guardians.

     A second financial aid event will be a fun & interactive presentation by New Hampshire Higher Education Assistance Foundation (NHHEAF) for seniors during the school day on October 31st and November 1st.  There will be a presentation once every block for seniors in the Frederick C. Walker Auditorium over the course of the two days.  Seniors must sign up in the School Counseling Office to attend one of the presentations. Sign-ups will be in October.

     I am College Bound will take place on November 16th between 8:00 am and noon.

     The deadline for submitting Senior Photo, Senior Bio, Baby Picture, and Personal Message to a Senior is November 8, 2017. 

Yearbook Information

     The photo, biography, and baby picture should be e-mailed as attachments to dhs.yearbook@dover.k12.nh.us.  If the baby picture is not in digital format you may have your student drop off a baby photo to Mrs. Stewart in Room 328 or mail to: DHS Yearbook, 25 Alumni Drive, Dover, NH 03820.

Repeated Information

     The Dover Police Department wishes to pass along a friendly reminder to both students and staff that the use of any handheld mobile electronic device while driving is against the law.  The use of handheld electronic devices while driving causes significant distractions to the driver, and increases your chances of being involved in an accident.  The Dover Police Department strictly enforces all laws pertaining to the Use of Mobile Electronic Device While Driving.

     Dover High School participates in the Hannaford Helps School Program that takes place from August 27 through December 2.  When shopping at Hannaford, please deposit your receipt if appropriate in the collection tree.

     Picture Day was held on Tuesday, September 19th.  The make-up/retake date is Tuesday, October 24th.

     We ask that you do not stop to drop off or pick up students on Alumni Drive.  We only want students crossing the street in crosswalks.  This practice is dangerous and negatively impacts traffic flow

     Female students interested in applying for the Girl Scouts sponsored leadership program, “Girls Rock the Capitol” should see their school counselor for information and an application.  Applications must be submitted and received by October 30, 2017.

Food Services 

     Information is attached to this email concerning the Dover High School Food Service Program.  You will find an informational letter, an explanation of how to access and use the MealTime Online Portal, and attachments related to Nutrislice, an interactive, online tool to view Dover High School menus.  Questions can be directed to the Dover School District Food Services Director, Mr. Josh Appleby.  He can be reached at 516-6962 or at dover@cafeservices.com.  Applications for free and reduced lunch will be distributed during Advisory on Wednesday, August 30th.  They can be returned the next day to the student’s advisor or to the Main Office.  This is an open application process so should your circumstances change during the school year, please reach out for an application.   

Transportation- Buses 

     All bus students received their bus passes in Advisory. Bus routes have been set by First Student for Dover students and Dail Transportation for Barrington and Nottingham students.  Dover routes can be found on the District Website at http://www.dover.k12.nh.us/students_and_families/transportation and Dover, Barrington, and Nottingham routes can be found on the Dover High School Website at http://www.dhs.dover.k12.nh.us/for_families/bus_information.

Transportation- Parking for Athletic and Other After School Event 

      Parking for events held at Dunaway Field and Bellamy Field is in the Bellamy Lot and the three lots located at the school:  Alternative School Lot, Senior Lot, and Parking Lot A (in front of the main building).  Please be sure to park in marked spaces only to ensure the safety of pedestrians and to allow access for emergency vehicles.  There is no access to Dunaway Field from the current high school so be sure to build in extra time to walk to events.
