For Families

Dover High School Family Information Update

January 5, 2018

We welcome everyone back and give our best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2018.  The weather has been a challenge and we appreciate everyone’s flexibility and safe driving during drop off and dismissal times.  The number of days we have missed require us to adjust our Mid-Year Exam Schedule.  The schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, January 18- Blocks 1 and 2 Green Day Exams
  • Friday, January 19- Blocks 1 and 2 White Day Exams
  • Monday, January 22- Blocks 3 and 4 Green Day Exams
  • Tuesday, January 23- Blocks 3 and 4 White Day Exams

Some general exam information is listed below.

The first exam of the day is from 7:40 am to 9:45 am and the second exam is from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Students have a 15-minute break between exams and a grab and go lunch is served from 12:00 pm to 12:15 pm.  The morning bus run is on its regular schedule while the only afternoon bus run leaves Dover High School at 12:15 pm.  Students only need to be in school during scheduled exams with study halls running in the cafeteria for those who want to take advantage of them or must wait for transportation.  Make up exams for excused absences are offered each afternoon from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm and should be schedule with the teacher of that course.

We need the help of our families to complete the Endicott Survey as part of our accreditation process.  At this point we have had 12% participation and need to reach 25% participation to be able to proceed with this part of the process.  The information needed to take the survey is listed below.  The survey takes about ten minutes to complete. We appreciate your help in helping us meet our participation rate.

Please go to the website www.endicottresearchcenter.net.  On that page you will see a blue box that states:

Students received their Semester II schedules in Advisory on Wednesday.  Please review them with your student(s) as quickly as possible and have them set up an appointment with their school counselor if changes need to be made. Those changes can be made before Semester II begins as well as during the six day add/drop window.

Repeated Information

The Dover Police Department wishes to pass along a friendly reminder to both students and parents that the use of any handheld mobile electronic device while driving is against the law.  The use of handheld electronic devices while driving causes significant distractions to the driver, and increases your chances of being involved in an accident.  The Dover Police Department strictly enforces all laws pertaining to the Use of Mobile Electronic Device While Driving.

We ask that you do not stop to drop off or pick up students on Alumni Drive.  We only want students crossing the street in crosswalks.  This practice is dangerous and negatively impacts traffic flow

Sincerely,

Peter Driscoll
Dover High School Principal
